Environmental & Sustainability Policy
At Birkin, sustainability is a critical component of responsible business practices. As such, we are committed to regenerating and replenishing, minimising our environmental impact, promoting social justice, and contributing to a healthy and sustainable future. We aim to be a business that gives back far more to society and the planet than it takes.
To achieve these goals, we will:
-
Commit to the continuous improvement of environmental management measures designed to meet the requirements of ISO 14001 and to comply with and exceed, where practicable, all applicable legislative regulations, relevant environmental laws and other related conditions.
-
To ensure that all staff and, where appropriate, interested parties are fully aware of our Sustainability Policy and are committed to implementing and improving it.
-
Reduce our carbon footprint by implementing energy-efficient technologies, utilising renewable energy sources, and promoting responsible transportation practices.
-
Minimise waste generation by reducing, reusing, and recycling materials throughout operations.

Foster a culture of environmental stewardship by educating our employees on sustainable practices and encouraging their participation in our sustainability initiatives.
-
Engage with our customers and stakeholders to promote awareness of our sustainability efforts and encourage their support for sustainable practices.
-
Adopt a ‘zero to landfill’ approach, striving to divert all waste generated by our operations away from landfills and towards more sustainable disposable methods, such as recycling, composting or energy recovery.
-
Monitor our supply chain and their progress to continuously improve its waste management practices to achieve a ‘zero to landfill’ goal.
-
Introduce a monthly tree-planting biodiversity initiative.
-
Become a climate-literate workforce.
-
Develop a culture of changemakers.
-
Commit to sustainable travel and reducing our impact when we travel, whether on business or how we commute to work. Refer to our Sustainable Travel Policy for more information.

-
Integrate sustainability considerations into all business decisions: We engage with our clients to encourage innovative development of our products, services, and systems to continually improve sustainable performance throughout the service lifecycle and build a sustainable business.
-
Minimise the impact on the sustainability of all office and transportation activities by: - Minimising the use of paper and other office consumables, for example, by double-siding all paper used and identifying opportunities to reduce waste. - As far as possible, arrange to reuse or recycle office waste, including paper, computer supplies and redundant equipment. - Reducing the energy consumption of office equipment by purchasing energy-efficient equipment and good housekeeping. - Where possible, purchase fair-trade and eco-friendly.
To achieve this aim, Birkin has the following key objectives to promote and will respond positively to enquiries and suggestions from both inside and outside the company:
-
To promote sound environmental management and sustainable policies and practices throughout Birkin.
