Meet the team

Team Birkin is packed with commercial cleaning and facility management specialists, and many of us have spent over 10 years at the top of our game.

There are too many of us for you to meet everyone, but we’ve highlighted a few key members below.

  • Paul Ashton

    CEO & Co-Owner

    Before becoming involved with Birkin, Paul held a number of senior roles within market leaders such as ISS, Norland and Bilfinger Europa.

    Paul understands the operating complexities of the commercial cleaning industry, and what it takes to be able to deliver outstanding service. He enjoys building successful teams and many of his previous management teams have followed him from business to business.

  • Dan Gardner

    Director & Co-Owner

    Over the last 10 years Dan has gained a significant amount of experience in both the Facilities Management & Property Management sectors in Central London. He has been involved in complex PFI schemes as well as Corporate accounts across a variety of sectors. He understands the importance of long lasting relationships in this market and has used this to his advantage when turning loss making contracts into profit generating flagship accounts. He remains passionate about developing teams that will be able to provide Birkin with the ability to grow consistently over in the future. He will be focussing on developing new markets to ensure Birkin becomes a long term partner of choice in the commercial cleaning market.

  • Rich Kane

    Finance Director

    Our newest member of the executive board, Rich was drawn by the culture of Birkin, and the exciting journey ahead. Rich has worked for a wide range of businesses both inside and outside the facilities industry.

  • Jo Durbridge

    Head of HR

    Jo has been involved in HR for the last 15 years and has held senior roles in companies such as GSH & Bilfinger Europa. Jo is passionate about HR and is well respected in the industry. She has a pro-active approach to managing the HR function and is a very valuable new member of the senior team.

  • Lyn Baird

    Bid Writer

    Lyn is our Bid Writer. She has 25 years experience compiling PQQs, RFIs, ITTs and Supplier Questionnaires for both private and public sectors. Known as “Dynamo”, Lyn lights up our lives here at Birkin.

  • Ingrid Cherry

    Business Development Manager

    Ingrid prides herself on developing a clear understanding of clients’ needs so that she can put together a tailor-made cleaning programme. Working for Birkin for over 3 years she very much enjoys working for a company that is passionate about customer service and has ambitious plans.

  • Nigel Dimmock

    Operations Director

    Nigel’s inherent ability to work under pressure is a vital Birkin characteristic. Nigel has worked in the industry for 19 years – joining us in 2012. In that time he’s seen our business go from strength to strength.

  • Soo Bartholomew

    Executive Consultant

    Soo has been involved in the cleaning industry for over 30 years and has built up an enviable level of specialist knowledge. As a BICSc Council member and a qualified BICSc Trainer and Assessor, Soo is a wonderful asset. Soo joined Birkin Services in October 2015 as part of our growth strategy and operational restructure.

  • Barry Jones

    Specialist Services Division

    Barry has been involved in the Construction Industry for over 30 years so he has a wealth of experience in the builders cleaning sector. Barry has worked with small local companies to the multi-million pound corporate companies such as Kier, Carillion & Lang O’Rourke so there is very little Barry hasn’t seen during his time in the industry.

  • Jean McNally

    Account Manager

    Jean has worked her way through the ranks, and continues to go from strength to strength. Responsible for our contracts within the Northern Home Counties, Jean is a strong team player, extremely well liked and respected by her clients, cleaning staff and peers alike.

  • Terry Havens

    Account Manager

    Terry has won the 2016 BICSc sponsored Hill Award for ‘rising stars’. The awards are focused purely on the delivery of excellence in cleaning services and are a true reflection of outstanding service to clients.

    Linda Jones at London Borough of Merton says Terry is “a breath of fresh air; he is organised, enthusiastic, trustworthy, respectful, professional and most of all reliable.”

  • Stephen Dove

    Training Manager

    Stephen joined Birkin in March 2016. An accomplished Trainer with 15 years experience, he has numerous qualifications including BICSc COPC stages 1–5; BICSc CPSS – all skills; BICSc Assessor; NVQ Assessor; CIEH Professional Trainers Certificate; CIEH Food Safety Level 2 and CSSA Management Diploma.

  • Chris Parr

    Regional Manager

    Chris has worked in the Cleaning industry since 1980, joining Birkin in June 2010. He has held a variety of positions including Project Manager, and also has experience of managing large contracts like Centrica, BT and British Gas. A member of BICSc and a past Chairman of the London branch, he is also a past Court Assistant of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners for whom he is a current Liveryman.

  • Mark Durbridge

    Regional Manager

    Mark has superb school contract management credentials. With 35 years leadership experience, he has superb people management and communication skills, enabling him to obtain the best out of his cleaning teams - making sure they go the extra mile when required.

  • Gary Havens

    Regional Manager

    Gary joined Birkin in April 2015 and has been a tour de force in the East London region ever since. Gary has a deep enthusiasm for doing the right thing and continually learning to improve the customer service experience. His start point is always to support the operational teams on each contract, and ensure that they have the tools that they need to do their job.

  • Linda Baker

    Account Manager

    As one of our longest-serving Account Managers – Linda has a wealth of experience and her commitment to Birkin and her team knows no bounds. She is always on hand to provide key operational support and guidance. Linda’s hard work means we’ve been able to retain customers for decades.

    She is someone the newer members really look up to.
